Cha Park was born in Seoul, South Korea in 1985. Coming from a musically inspired family, she was taught by her mother from a young age. Cha's earliest musical experiences were gained by accompanying her mother, an accomplished soprano, at the keyboard.
In 1997, Cha came to the United States to pursue advanced musical studies. Settling in Indianapolis with her mother, she became a student of Dr. Steve Roberson. Throughout her high school years, she was the winner of several youth competitions in Indiana, which led to performances in such venues as the Indianapolis Museum of Art during the Penrod Arts Fair, the Indiana Historical Society, the Indiana Convention Center and the Children's Museum of Indianapolis. At age 19, Cha was a participant of the American Pianists Association 2005. After being awarded significant scholarship awards from several universities, Cha enrolled at Butler University to study on a full scholarship. Her former instructors were Andrew Russo and Dr. Kate Boyd during her undergraduate studies at Butler University. Cha hope to attend Indiana University for her master's degree. She looks to spend her graduate years developing an already impressive command of the keyboard. Cha's actively involved in many music activities including the MTNA/IMTA as the president of the Butler Collegiate Chapter, member of Pi Kappa Lambda, Butler Community Arts School, and the Annual Butler University Piano Camp. She hopes to build leadership skills and provide community services as an active young musician. Cha's recent piano recital performances include the Steinway Hall in New York City with her professor, Dr. Kate Boyd, and at the Governor's mansion. Her recent performance includes solo piano debut with the Butler Symphony Orchestra at the Clowes Memorial Hall, Butler University, performing Maurice Ravel's Concerto for the Left Hand Alone. Cha has participated in masterclasses with Orion Weiss, Robert Satterlee, Stephen Hough and Emanuel Arciuli. |
